The Face of God...

Hello all! I know I just blogged yesterday, but I couldn't resist sharing something with you today. I am taking some writing and creativity courses through "Daily Om", and one of those classes is "Empower Yourself Through Creativity" by Shelley Klammer. She is a wonderful coach and teacher, and through this course, which uses spontaneous collage and writing, I am beginning to unearth some deeply rooted thoughts and feelings that I didn't know were there! If you have never tried the "Daily Om" exercises and courses, I highly recommend them! They even have a sliding scale on pricing for their courses, so that anyone can take advantage of them...Here is the link if you are interested:
Daily Om.

I am taking several of the courses, and am enjoying them immensely! This one is especially fun and enlightening though, and while doing it this morning, I put together something that I wanted to share with you all...

Here is my spontaneous collage and writing for this morning, 1-4-2013.

"A New Year, a new phase of my life. Somewhere in all of these faces will I find the face of God? Isn't that what we are all looking for ultimately? We search for something our whole lives, usually not knowing what it is, but in the end all we are really searching for is the face of God. We don't realize until it is too late that the face we have sought has been right there all of this time. It is in the faces of those we love, the beauty of nature, the comfort of a hug. Look deep within yourself and you will find the face of God. He was inside your heart all along, guiding you, protecting you, until the ultimate day when we stand before him and see him clearly for the first time with all of our being. He is illuminated in a pure, blinding light." - L. Thykeson

Now, this morning when I started looking for pictures to do my spontaneous collage with, I had no conscious thoughts of God or religion or spirituality. These words just poured out of me, while doing the collage and  examining it later. Isn't it interesting what we can find inside of ourselves when we allow ourselves to be open enough for these deep feelings and thoughts to come out? I even feel better after doing this exercise-I feel more grounded and in tune with myself... I am very grateful to Shelley Klammer and the Daily Om website for the interesting courses and articles they provide. If you enjoy doing things like this type of course, I highly recommend this website to you! They have a large amount of affordable courses available to choose from, and they are all put together by some really talented people! Enjoy!

Happy Creating-

Laura Thykeson

  1. Oh you touch on so many of my truths. I know my longing is for the Great Mother. I find her in my poetry and paintings, often.

  2. Hi Laura,

I'm taking that Daily Om course too, Empower Yourself with Creativity. I'm finding that the collages are unearthing all sorts of things. I worked on Week 1, then quit for awhile and am now on Week 2. I hope we will both keep at it!

    1. It's amazing what ends up coming out, isn't it??...I am really enjoying the course and it was well worth the money. I like the fact that they have a "sliding scale" for the cost of the course also!
