Today I finally made my first fabric postcard, complete with a metallic gold stencil of a flower in the center. I have a pic of it to show you...It's nothing too fancy, just a first try at working with fabric, which I glued in place...
I also have been working with fabric making other things such as this bookmark I made for a challenge on the Pamela Joy Purses Ning site...you should check out this great ning site-everyone is super nice and there are always challenges going on where you can win free prizes!!! Here is the bookmark I sewed and embellished for one of the challenges:
For embellishments I glued on some "fun foam" shapes of flowers and a butterfly, after topstitching the bookmark. Not too bad for my first try, I suppose....
I also just received a book about beginning embroidery, and incorporating beading into your embroidery stitches...I can't wait to get started with this new form of art! I love to hand sew, just never really knew enough about it to really get the hang of it. This book, shown below, is going to be a breeze to learn from...:
It even shows a small amount of instructions on adding beads to your embroidery. You can find a lot of ideas and patterns on Google as well....
Well, I guess I have enough things to keep me busy for a while, so I had better get started, huh???!!!
Also, leave a comment including your email address and you will be entered into a drawing for a hand painted bangle bracelet, made by me. Here is the bracelet-it has a pink hibiscus flower design painted on it, then coated with a good varnish.
Don't forget to post your email address, so I can email you and let you know you won the drawing, plus I can get your mailing address!!! The drawing will be held on June 15th, 2012.
Good luck and Happy Creating!

Hi Laura,
ReplyDeleteIf you need any embroidery tips let me know. I've done lots of it. I suggest you get a needle threader. It makes embroidering so much easier.
